Doorstep Arts is a independent performing arts company committed to creating innovative, exceptional theatre.

The name Doorstep has been synonymous with the highest quality independent theatre and the nurturing of new talent for the past two decades.

The award winning youth theatre company, Doorstep Productions was founded in 1993 by Doorstep’s Artistic Director, Darylin Ramondo.  As a natural progression, Doorstep Arts followed in 2007 as an independent professional theatre company with Jolyon James joining Darylin as co Artistic Director from 2008 to 2010.

The evolvement of Doorstep Arts represents the growth of this creative and innovative company as it expands its distinctive repertoire to include community arts and cultural development projects, serving to further enrich the cultural identity of the wider community and increase its enviable reputation as a unique theatre company.

ARTISTIC DIRECTOR: DARYLIN RAMONDO 

Darylin Ramondo is the founder/artistic director of leading independent theatre company, Doorstep Arts. She has been involved in theatre for over 30 years, directing and producing many successful theatre productions including Cats, Romeo and Juliet, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, West Side Story, Jesus Christ Superstar, Pippin, Chicago, Into the Woods, My Fair Lady and Mary Poppins. 

Darylin received the Victorian Music Theatre Guild (VMTG) Director of the Year Award for Doorstep's award-winning, Chicago and won the Production of the Year Award for Pippin and Into the Woods.

She also directed and produced Doorstep Arts' productions of Last Five Years, Songs for a New World and A One Night Stand with Eddie Perfect. Furthermore, she produced Doorstep's The 25th Annual Putnam Country Spelling Bee, Three Sides and the company's inaugural WNTR Cabaret Festival featuring numerous nationally acclaimed artists. 

In 2014, Darylin produced and directed Doorstep Arts' critically acclaimed production of Next to Normal, in Geelong and in association with Hayes Theatre Co in Sydney, in 2015. The production was awarded Theatre People's Pro-Choice Award for Best Musical (Limited Season) receiving glowing reviews from national media.

In May 2016, Darylin directed the Victorian Premiere of Dogfight at Chapel Off Chapel, Melbourne.

As an actor, Darylin has appeared in many theatre productions, receiving VMTG awards for her acting work (Brigadoon, Sweeney Todd, Les Miserables).

In addition to theatre, she is a qualified Community Cultural Development (CCD) practitioner with several years' experience gained in establishing the AFL Geelong Cats Community Cultural Development program with players and remote indigenous communities of East Arnhem Land. Darylin has also worked on local government community arts projects as a lead creative.

From 2013 to 2015, Darylin worked with Australia's renowned Back to Back Theatre as Executive Assistant to the Executive Producer, Alice Nash and Artistic Director, Bruce Gladwin. She also was the Creative Programmer for youth arts company, Courthouse Youth Arts in 2016.

Darylin’s most recent work has been as Co Producer for Essential Theatre’s production of Emilia at Arts Centre Melbourne and Canberra Theatre Centre in November 2022. She was also Assistant Director (Director Petra Kalive) for this acclaimed production.
