METRO STREET

by Matthew Lee Robinson

“…earthy, slightly grimy and always truthful modern-day story about the pain, heartache and ultimately love that lies beneath the façade of Australian families. This is an Australia that is familiar, comfortable and yet paradoxically extremely discomforting." Australian Stage

Doorstep Arts is thrilled to be co-presenting with the Geelong Arts Centre the Helpmann Award-nominated Metro Street by Matthew Lee Robinson. Metro Street will be part of the Geelong Arts Centre 2020 Theatre Season program in August 2020.

Set against the backdrop of modern-day Melbourne, soon to be university graduate Chris undergoes a life-altering year. With dreams of a future in London and the promise of a generation who can have it all, the four women in his life – his mother Sue, grandmother Jo, girlfriend Amy, and girl next door Kerry – enable him to find his way to what he needs the most; home.

Metro Street will be Directed by Chris Parker (Jekyll & Hyde, Production Company’s Oklahoma and Thoroughly Modern Millie) with Musical Direction by David Piper (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Mary Poppins, Wicked, The Boy From Oz, Chess (Production Company)).

Leading the cast in the role of Sue Barnes is Australia’s leading lady, Natalie O’Donnell (Mamma Mia!, Next to Normal)
